1. Introduction
ReceiptIQ ("we", "our", "the app") is developed and operated by Samuel Oyedele. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use ReceiptIQ, why we collect it, how it is stored and protected, and your rights over it.
By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use ReceiptIQ.
2. Data We Collect
Account Information
- Email address and display name (when you sign up with email/password or Google)
- A unique user ID generated by Firebase Authentication
Receipt & Financial Data
- Receipt images you capture or upload
- Extracted data: merchant name, amount, date, expense category
- Tax-deductibility flag you assign to each receipt
- Monthly budget limits you set per category
App Preferences
- Preferred currency and locale
- Custom expense categories you create
- Onboarding and setup completion status
Subscription & Purchase Data
- Whether you are on the free tier or a Pro subscription
- Transaction identifiers managed by RevenueCat (we never see full payment card details)
Device & Usage Data
- Device type and OS version (collected automatically by Firebase)
- App crash reports and diagnostic logs (anonymised)
- We do not collect IP addresses or persistent device identifiers for tracking
3. How We Use Your Data
- Provide the service — scan receipts, track spending, generate reports
- Sync across devices — your receipts are backed up to your private cloud storage
- Manage subscriptions — verify your Pro entitlement and process purchases
- Improve the app — crash reports help us fix bugs (no personally identifiable data is used for this)
- Communicate with you — important account notices (never unsolicited marketing)
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.
4. Third-Party Services
ReceiptIQ integrates with the following third-party providers. Each has their own Privacy Policy:
Firebase (Google) Google
Used for user authentication (Firebase Auth) and cloud data storage (Firestore). Your receipts and budgets are stored in a Firestore database accessible only to your authenticated account.
Google Sign-In Google
If you choose "Sign in with Google", Google shares your name and email address with us. We do not receive your Google password.
Google Gemini AI AI
Receipt images are sent to Google's Gemini API to extract merchant, amount, and date. Images are processed transiently and are not stored by Google for model training under our API usage tier.
RevenueCat Subscriptions
Manages in-app purchases and Pro subscription status. RevenueCat receives anonymous purchase identifiers from the App Store / Play Store. We link your Firebase UID to your RevenueCat customer record to verify entitlements — no financial data passes through our servers.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in two places:
- On your device — in an encrypted SQLite database (SQLDelight). This is the primary store and works fully offline.
- In the cloud — in Google Firestore, accessible only to your authenticated UID. Firestore data is encrypted at rest and in transit by Google.
We follow industry-standard security practices. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:
- Your Firestore data (receipts, budgets, settings) is deleted within 30 days
- Your Firebase Auth record is deleted immediately
- Local data on your device is deleted when you uninstall the app
- RevenueCat retains anonymised purchase records as required by platform policies
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Portability — export your receipts as PDF (available in-app)
- Objection — object to certain processing activities

8. Children's Privacy
ReceiptIQ is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. Camera & Photo Library
The app requests access to your device camera and photo library solely to let you photograph or select receipt images for scanning. Images are processed locally and via Gemini AI. They are not shared with any other party or stored on our servers.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
